My Story

My journey into photography began over 25 years ago when I lived in Europe. Unable to speak the language, I spent my days in the library, mostly looking at art books since there was not much else that I could understand. Eventually, I stumbled across a photography book about the famous photojournalist Robert Capa, and my passion for photographic storytelling began. I was intrigued by Capa's ability to tell the story of war through portraits of the victims and survivors. Within a few weeks, I had purchased my first 35 mm camera, found access to a black-and-white darkroom, and suddenly, I felt at home in a strange land.

I landed my first professional job at fifteen working for a photographer in New Orleans as an assistant portrait shooter and darkroom technician. In college, I continued to shoot, but my professional interests shifted towards becoming a professor rather than a full-time photographer. Over the years, my professional career has taken quite a few interesting and unexpected turns, however, throughout my life my fascination with people and storytelling has remained constant.

A few years ago, I decided that it was time to devote more energy to doing what I love, and Randall Granier Photography was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since that time, live has become much more of an adventure, and I.m thrilled to be able to share this experience with my customers.
